Oaths are renewals of hope, faith, and allegiance. Oaths are a consecration of a people’s adherence to ideals. Ideals are honed from the covenants with a God Almighty. It is an affirmation that we trek the paths of destiny to uplift a nation to the noble and manifest charge to make this planet we inherited a better place for the lives we live or because of the lives we have lived.

It is symbolic that a black man rose from the depths of a democracy in the United States to be sworn as its leader. It finds parallels in Joseph and Moses in the Old Testament when they rose from the ranks of an enslaved people to sit in power with the Pharoahs.

The ascendancy to the corridors of authority is not an end to snatch and enjoy power. It is a means to overhaul the direction a country as leader of the world follows to fulfill its manifest destiny.

Such an overturning in leadership should be a cue for deliverance like in the Bible. Not even the deepest ocean can hinder the caravan to the Promised Land. America will be a better place and the whole world and its economy better situated because of the ushering of a new freedom.

The United States calls it the stimulus package while Taiwan calls it the gift coupons for shopping. It is really like riding the back of the tiger that can turn on the rider and mangle him with violence if the process ever stopped. Consumers have to keep on consuming like possessed souls so that the production infrastructure can keep churning out products.

Spend more and grow more. Once you stop buying contraction of the economy sets in. You are made to feel that the ball is always in your court or carry the whole world’s economy on your shoulder by the habits of your buying sprees. Consumerism wanton or redemptive is fostered to America like a gun to the head. You better spend or perish.

Well, Barack the Harvard law graduate smiles like he will dance to the tune. Yes, he knows that riding the wave is ruling with a unity and a consensus that necessarily will not plunge the political establishment into disembowelment thru a disastrous upheaval. Obama wise as he is and guided by the Lord Almighty will not rock the boat and sow enmity and disenfranchisement only to cause more harm.

Little by little he will bring God back to a country that has turned to Wal-Mart as a place of worship. Piece by piece he will see Americans through a withdrawal from the pangs of unbridled and senseless materialism. Yes we can, build more churches and spur the economy of those engaged in building. Yes we can, spend more of the budget for building more schools and raising the pay of teachers to spur the American economic machine.

Yes we can go back to the values of making the earth a better place to live. Yes we can all be together with all discordant voices and the dichotomy of agendas and ideas unified in a vow to plan well the use of the resources of the earth for the future of Americans hand in hand with the rest of the world.

So help us the Abba Krishna, the Father, the Creator, The One and Only God By many Names and many Faiths.
